"With a title like "Home is where you hang yourself" you'd expect an album with the effect of a shutgun fixed in a mouth. Well, close, but not really.
Her Space Holiday (how'bout that for a group name) deliver a gorgeous downer album without the often unneccesary pseudocomplexities of Radiohead and with tons of melancholic charm to go with it.
Most of the songs have the duration of a punk song and that kinda constantly leaves you with a "want more" feeling but the sum works very effectively, it's like a friend telling you what's wrong and it's only because there's music accompanying the stories (not unfamiliar stories at that) that you'll be reminded this is an album.
It's basically ethereal guitars and drony sad melodies that dominate the terrain here, very reminiscent of Elliot Smith when he's solo and who's participating in this LP.
True, there might be quite some such albums out there but the decicive ingredient is always whether they can achieve a chemistry with the listener.
Well, if you've ever been really down, if you've ever been a fan of autumn and if you've ever thought a constant smile is a grotesque exaggeration you'll be well served by Her Space Holiday.
Beautiful."
Repackaged, not part two

"Listeners be aware...this is not a part two, but a repackaging of the original HOME IS WHERE YOU HANG YOURSELF. They've redone the cover artwork and included both discs onto one. But other than that, as far as I can tell, it's the same release."

"i'm a Marc Bianci fanatic so I had to buy this cd. love the new cover. i thought this was a curious move - to re-release the old 2-disk set with a single disk, minus a few songs.still, here's a cd with perfect music. an exercise in minimalism. ethereal, dreamy, swooning music for the soul. i consider Home is Where You Hang Yourself a bridge between the old Her Space Holiday releases (The Astronauts are sleeping, Something Blue, etc etc) and the new (Manic Expressive). Wonderful melodies, but still accomplished ith only guitars and a drm machine or two. with the release my wife and i can each keep a copy of the disk in our cars. not that i suggest operating a vehicle while listening. the music tends to transport you outside of the normal realms of concentration."
The perfect theme music to the struggles of the heart

"her space is awesome, chill music. you can go drivin with that girl in your life, or you can sit at the computer sad because she's thousands of miles away. depressing melancholy rich with languid words of pining and romance, these songs pull at my heart strings every time. the only reason i didn't give it a five is cause the young machines is my favorite album."
