One Of Mancini's Masterpieces

"For some reason that's unknown to me, Henry Mancini has never been given his due as one of America's greatest composers. Because some of his songs have been given the Muzak treatment, he's frequently dismissed as a composer of "elevator music" (hey, NO ONE can escape the Muzak treatment - I've even heard Gershwin and Lennon/McCartney on elevators). Mancini's artistry should be apparent to anyone who's listened to the soundtracks of "Two For The Road," "Breakfast At Tiffany's," and "Days Of Wine And Roses." One of my personal favorites is "Sunflower," which - thanks to Amazon.com - is available again on this Japanese-produced CD. From the infectious Mediterranean rhythms of "Giovanna," to the Slavic sweep of "The Search," to the heartbreakingly beautiful title track, "Sunflower" reveals itself as one of Mancini's genuine masterpieces. Although this package is on the expensive side, I was happy to pay the price for this sadly overlooked but Oscar-nominated gem."
Haunting melody that will stay with you.... forever.

"If you see the movie, you will be hooked on this melody... for life. It is a sentimental movie with an excellent pairing between two greats, Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. If you haven't, you can still appreciate this wonderful musical score that gets on a list with Claire De Lune. But don't just believe me... the appreciation is experiential."
The Soundtrack of Love

"Mancini at his best. If there is any doubt about Mancini's musical genius, the soundtrack of Sunflower erased that doubt for good. The selections in this CD make the heart swell with love. The compositions alternately celebrate and mourn love's aches and its joys, its rewards and the sorrows that ambush a great relationship sometimes. A must-have CD for all Mancini fans."
