Deathchant- i'll say no more
03/28/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Anyone who says the Deathchant label isn't innovative and groundbreaking is sadly mistaken. Hellfish & Producer have developed a very unique sound within the hardcore techno/gabber fraternity. Why do you think so many other labels are now imitating their sound? Sure, some of the tracks are a little dated, but moments like 'Brainwave', 'Screamer's Revenge', 'Ultimate Damage 98/99' & 'The Vortices' are some of the biggest hardcore tunes ever pressed to vinyl. If your even vaguely into the UK hard techno/terror scene, then Deathchant, Hellfish & Producer will provide some of the choicest cuts from the genre. Very highly recommended."

"If you want to hear Hellfish & Producer at their best, I suggest you hunt down "Constant Mutation" on Mike Paradinas' Planet µ label. It's a great mix CD of extreme hardcore techno and the best track from "No Mistakes Allowed", "The Way Of The Homeboy Part II" is on there too. By the way, the Real Audio link for the second track "Religion II (Bringer Of War)" just ahead of this text is in fact a link to the track 5 of that CD, namely "The Way Of The Homeboy Part II (The Winter Of Discontent)... Everybody messed up that tracklisting."

"First off, the tracklisting is all wrong, even in the one included with the CD booklet. This is the US edition of a UK double album, which included on the first CD an unmixed compilation of Deathchant tracks (H&P's label in the UK) from 1994 to 2000, and on the second CD a mix of more recent tracks. The tracklisting included on the US version is from the second UK CD (the mix), but in fact, the music on the US cd is from the unmixed compilation (UK CD1). I haven't heard the mix CD, but this compilation souds dated in most tracks, and it's not really interesting to listen to when not on a dancefloor. Track 5, though, is really excellent, but then again, I'm not extremely familiar with UK hardcore techno."
