CD Reviews

I WOULD HAVE PAID TWICE AS MUCH...
Joe Asbury | 06/12/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I would have paid twice as much for lush packaging with liner notes and cleaned up sound reproduction.

Does Emusica really love this music as much as we do?

Why don't they give this music (and its fans) the respect it deserves by reissuing and remastering the great studio albums by Fania artists, instead of continuing to put out one greatest hits package after another of the same handful of songs?

I really prefer Hector's work with Willie's band anyway,

particularly "Cosa Nuestra," "Lo Mato," "El Juicio," and "La Gran Fuga."

I think "Lavoe: A Man and His Music" is a good sampler for non-completists;it includes tracks fom his pre-solo years, and pretty good liner notes.

Great Price. Good Sound 3 out of 4
sergiobklyn | 11/15/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is an inexpensive package of the first 4 solo albums by Héctor. The remastering is very good except De ti Depende which sounds awful. I believe is the same material as this one: De Ti Depende

There are no liner notes (you get extensive ones if you buy the individual remastered CD's) but it includes the front and back artwork of the original LP jacket and also the circular labels of both sides of the LP.

As far as the quality of the music I give this package 5 stars. I really like the Willie Colón/Héctor Lavoe collaborations
