He's pioneering his sound that would become 'New Jack Swing', and dominate the charts for many years with acts like Keith Sweat, Guy, Bobby Brown. That sound would then be copied by many other producers. But Teddy Riley was a real innovator at the time, and his New Jack Swing revolution starts here, with this Heavy D album, before blowing up big with Keith Sweat's I Want Her"

"I remember when this album dropped. We were waiting for it after the single for the overweight lover came out. Heavy D represented for all of us Big Guys. For the first time a big guy was seen dressed up, dancing and doing all the things smaller guys could do."
