"For those not familiar with Ruth and Cyntia's work, these two women from Southern Californa play fretted dulcimers beautifully and, in the folk tradition, use traditional Celtic and British Isles melodies to which they have written their own, witchy lyrics. Listen to the joyous "Summer, Summer" and the stirring "Apples of Avalon." In addition, they have included some pieces with their commmonly-known lyrics, such as Dancing At Whitsun. Also included are their original compositions (Bridget, May Queen, Partings, to name a few). They have low, resonant voices and their arrangements are always elegant. I recommend this and any of their other works to those who are tired of being jostled by uptempo and novelty folk songs and want to feel a deep connection with the earth and spirituality. I hope Ruth and Cyntia will release a new recording soon. Their sensitive musicianship is sorely needed in this harsh culture."
