"Its amazing to see how good are some of Naxos records. Some records of Haydn Symphonies are specialy good. But the records conducted by Bela Drahos are more than good. They are superb. His recordings of Nos 31 ( Hornsignal) , 71 in B flat, 73 ( La Chasse) , 90 in C Major and 86 ( one of the Paris Symphonies) are even superior than that of Antal Dorati. All these recordings Drahos did with the Nicolaus Esterházy Sinfonia, one Chamber Orchetra formed in 1992 from members of important hungarian orchestras . Now, Drahos is recording with another fantastic group: The Swedish Chamber Orchestra. The sonorities are diferent. More virtuosistic . More refined in tune. The result is outstanding. Here we have three seldom performed Symphonies sounding so well that we ask ourselves: why are these Symphonies so rarely played? Maybe, for the No 51 , the reason is the difficult French Horn solo part, here splendidly played by Bengt Oleras.
Three masperpieces of Haydn. In Magnificent readings. And with this price. Don't think twice...."
