CD ReviewsHawkwind...need I say more? Burritoman "USA" | Pennsylvania | 05/21/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a compilation of previously released tracks, including demos and live cuts. The songs range from the wildly experimental ('Ghost Dance', 'British Tribal Music', 'Hash Cake '77') to the more straightforward space-rock of the band ('Silver Machine', 'Quark, Strangeness And Charm'), with a lot of in-between points touched upon. The version of 'Motorhead' included here is the Dave Brock-sung demo, for instance. This isn't the cd for those new to Hawkwind to pick up first-- try "In Your Area" or "In Search Of Space" or "Space Ritual" if you can find it. But for Hawkwind fans who may not already have these 15 tracks, this is a must-buy. For under ten dollars you get almost 61 minutes of outstanding music made by one of the greatest bands in rock history." Hawkwind - 'Master of The Universe' (Delta) Mike Reed | USA | 11/25/2006 (3 out of 5 stars) "Give us a break.Isn't there NOW like four different Hawkwind compilation CD's by the same name,'Master Of The Universe'?This fifteen track collection looks to be tunes pulled from the long out-of-print Hawkwind import releases 'Acid Daze',volumes 1,2 and 3.Are there REALLY that many completists out there?" Space Punk and the Early Signs of Grundge Mike Reed | 02/28/2001 (2 out of 5 stars) "Hawkwind was one of those bands of the 70's that didn't have a lot of commercial success, but had a strong cult following. Their recordings are usually not the best. This one is no exception. I don't really care for any of the tracks on this CD. But, I'll give them credit for their originality of space punk with a hint of the early signs of grundge. It's easy to see that someone like Metallica could have been influenced by this band."
