Recorded at Harry's home studio in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1993, the album also features renditions of three jazz standards. Paradox Fossils has been described as "dream-like soundscape especially appropriate for those moments between the waking state and sleep state". Most of the selections are first take improvisations that draw upon blurred distinctions between 20th century music and jazz influences.
