"The Harper Brothers broke in a big way with this much hyped recording at the Village Vanguard, it was actually their 2nd album and stayed on the Billboard Jazz Charts for six weeks in 1990. Where else to record this troupe's music then the legendary Village Vanguard where watching a jazz group is like being at the Holy Church of Jazz. This recording is aptly titled Remembrance(the song Remembrance is written by brother Danny Harper) because they play old-school jazz. Trumpeter, Phillip, drummer Winard, and Danny play some powerful music. Hodge Podge, Always Know, Kiss Me Right and Don't Go to Strangers are my favorite tunes. Play it loud and close your eyes and you can hear the ghosts of Dizzy, Bird, Monk and Trane but what you are hearing are "the most brilliant new jazz group of the new decade"."
