CD Reviews

Ethereal, non-traditional, Kate Bush loving!!!
Lisa Adams | Edmonds, WA USA | 09/20/2005

"Happy is amazing, truly alternative, with heavenly sounds and moving lyrics. I highly recommend checking out her body of work. I first heard her from a song off this album, When the Rain Came Down. It is so striking and moving, that I had to hear more.

If you are a new fan like me, you want to get all her albums. If they aren't sold here, another option is to go to her website, [...] where she sell her music plus other stuff. You can get this cd from her for [...] plus shipping. It isn't out ot print til she runs out, and the money will help her get her new cd printed. Be one of those people who gets to be part of an indie-type artist keep her art alive."
Early Effort From a Criminally Underrated/Unknown Talent

"Had Annie Lennox and Kate Bush decided to collaborate and release an album of duets, I have a feeling it would sound a lot like this. Instrumentals on this album are a nice blend of traditional acoustics and 80's era synthesizer. Rhodes voice is always the star of the song as it travels from the low Annie Lennox style baritones all the way up to the same stratosphere where Kate Bush's early vocal work came from.

The overall mood is quite mellow, with lyrics and songwriting tending towards the more abstract than being about specific boyfriends or relationships. This makes it the type of music you can listen to over and over again without getting tired of it.

On "Would that I Could" it is almost frightening how much Rhodes seems to capture Kate Bush at her best. "Off From Out From Under Me" is a little more typical of most of this album and will satisfy those looking for something with a little bit more of a modern 80's sythesizer edge.

You will find that this artist has quite a devoted cult following, which is usually a sign that the person is worth checking out. While she does initially sound a lot like other artists, her stuff is ultimately all her own and is very worth listening to.

If you are a Kate Bush fan, don't even hesitate to buy this CD. It is almost guaranteed that you will like it."

"I first came across this song believing it was an Annie Lennox song, with Bush -K- as a guest star, but this amazing song is by mrs Rhodes ! No big synths on this one, just a simple drums ostinato, listen and enjoy!!"
