"I am usually a purist when it comes to Broadway recordings. I expect the music to sound the way the composer's wrote it. In this case there is a departure from what is heard on this recording and always seen on stage. The impression is real, vital and electric! There is no mistaking that these are the songs from the show, but the perspective is like an after-hours smoke-filled cellar-bar with a casual but exacting attitude! I truly enjoyed these new interpretations which give the music a new dimension. Especially on MY HEART IS SO FULL OF YOU. There is a soprano-obbligato/descant that is hauntingly marvelous. If you like the show, enjoy the music and have an open mind, or just enjoy jazz, this is for you. The recordings truly hold up. I was amazed to discover that this was recorded in the 1950's. It left me wanting for more."
