"Apparently, japanese outfit Happy Family specialized in recording music that defies classification. Their music is complex, full of breathtaking sudden changes in tempo, meter and melodic direction, and delivered with sheer confidence and technical proficience. Highlights include guitar player Shigeru Makino's Fripp-meets-Buckethead approach and Kenichi Morimoto's inventive compositions and unusual synth sounds, all topped with the fiery backing of Keiichi Nagase on drums and Tatsuya Miyano on bass. It's challenging music to your ears, but you'd never be able to claim this album didn't provide at least a handful of sonic surprises as well."
