"For those of you who love Tatiana Troyanos, Benita Valente or just Baroque opera in general - then this is sure to please. There are four pieces from Handel and four from Mozart. There are also two additional songs by Pachelbel and Albinoni. My three favorites are: (1) "Caro! Piu amabile belta"(the final duet from Handel's "Giulio Cesare") (2) Pachelbel "Canon" and (3) Albinoni "Adagio" ( 2 & 3 were arranged for voice, strings and continuo by the conductor Julius Rudel)
Both ladies sound just dreamy to these ears. Valente (an unfortunately underrated singer) sings with a smooth, clear and lovely voice. The late lamented Troyanos sings with her usual dark, warm and intense voice (without ever overpowering Valente). They compliment each other so perfectly that it's easy to see why they had such success concertizing together. I can't stop listening to this CD - a must have!"
