"This CD release has not been promoted in anyway at all...and it should be! The recording is live 1984 at the Washington Cathedral with Antal Dorati conducting the Smithsonian Concerto Grossi (period instruments) with the University of Maryland Choir and soloists Tom Krause & Edith Mathis. If this recording was properly promoted and released on a major label it would probably sell for more $, but since it was not it is a DEFINITE steal! I highly recommend it. The performances are outstanding, and for any fan of Antal Dorati it is a must!"
Amazon.com disappointed me with this one.

"One could not expect too much from a record at the price of this one. Anyhow, as a Handel's big fan and a Messiah's lover I tend to enjoy every recordings made on this wonderful masterpiece. Despite the quality of the performance and the recordings itself, they always have something unique and interesting at certain point. In this record for instance I liked "How Beautiful Are The Feet..."; "Why Do The Nations..."; "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth..." and "The Trumpet Shall Sound..."My disappointment belongs to the fact that I ordered this CD imagining that it was supposed to be the whole Messiah, as it is diplayed (Handel's Messiah). Also all the information comprised in the only one customer review available makes you believe that it is the whole Messiah. The CD delivered to me was "Handel Messiah Highlights". The only information on the record is the following: (1997 Platinum Disc Corporation, Made in Canada). None of the information mentioned on the customer review is available on this CD and it is definitely not a live recording as it says on the review. Now, if the review is mistaking and does not refer to that CD, it should not be displayed. So, do not buy this one, you will get platinum for gold."
