"Approximately 41 min. Digitally remastered. Anyone with a love of jazz piano should be aware of Hampton Hawes. Sadly,this is not the case. In the approximately 2 hours of music contained in all three volumes you will hear jazz piano at it's best. Made up of originals and standards,the melody is always out front where it belongs. The quartet of Jim Hall on guitar,Red Mitchell on bass,Bruz Freeman on drums and Hawes never play over each other. Playing as a true unit the tune is always king. From gently swinging to more uptempo songs this group plays almost telepathically. You might think that after the previous two volumes the group would begin to flag and the quality would be of lesser value. This is certainly not the case-especially when you consider that all three volumes were done in a single long session. When people speak of jazz-this is what should come to mind. Hawes said it best when he said this music fills him up so emotionally that he wants to shout hallelujah! Nothing can be added to that."
