French bossa crooner Guillaume Belhomme spent much of the last year wandering through Northern Africa and Madagascar, spending some time alone. Now he's back with his second album, and his first in collaboration with a band. Co-produced by Etienne Jaumet of French press favorites Flop, Gypsophile's second full-length is a leap forward in production values for Monsieur Belhomme. The album is also entirely in French this time. The vocals are still soft, the music still gently looping, but the atmosphere this time is darker, like the final album of Daily Planet, or Jacques Brel at his most intimate and acoustic. Previous releases on Clover, Radio Khartoum, Elefant, Blackbean & Placenta, and numerous compilations.
