"There are some that foolishly view the late Gwen Guthrie as nothing more than a once upon a time - one hit wonder, based solely upon her only really big chart success with the #1 crossover smash 'Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But The Rent'. This is somewhat sacrilege talk for those that are familiar with her catalogue released BEFORE that one big chart hit, in truth, Gwen had released three studio albums before that hit record, and one - mini EP album - Padlock - considered by many as the #1 dance floor record in the world. In short, nobody could match her. It was Gwen that could really rock a dancefloor with her seemingly effortless, fire on ice vocals, her infectious rhythmatic funk and time and time again be equally dynamic as the songwriter. Gwen could do it all. With all tracks here being culled from both her self-titled debut ['82] and her sophomore album 'Portrait' ['83], given superb yet subtle, lengthy remixes - this set - is impossible to listen to and keep still - you have to dance. Everyone should experience this."
