Pianist Ivan Klánský and cellist Marek Jerie made some superb CDs of Romantic cello literature which ought to be revived, including a thrilling performance of the Brahms Cello Sonatas. With a like-minded colleague, violinist en k Pavlík, they make an extremely fine trio. You have to accept the ensemble's very aggressive approach to Brahms (also heard in the Cello Sonata CD) to like this performance, but they do moderate their approach for the gentler music of Mendelssohn. This disc is a very good way to make the acquaintance of a superior musical ensemble. --Leslie Gerber
