"Guadalcanal Diary got me through college. This album is one of the finest recordings of a live show I've ever heard. If you're an old Diary fan, it'll bring back good memories. If you're new to Guadalcanal, it's a must have. Once you've heard it, you'll be screaming for more. If anyone from their label is reading this, PLEASE RE-RELEASE THEIR OLD STUFF! WE'LL ALL PAY DOUBLE!"
Get the feel of a live show!!!

"For those of you who enjoyed this Athens band during the 80's... this is a gotta-have for your collection! I was at one of the recordings in Atlanta and the CD release in Atlanta-- and I have to say, that this CD gives you feeling of being at a live show. Too bad their early label doesn't see fit to re-release their earlier studio work :( So until Elektra releases some of their past albums or until they get a new studio release... this is the album to own. Let the band know that you want to hear more stuff from them-- BUY THIS CD!!!!"
Outstanding! Lots of energy...

"This is so great. GD sounds raw and powerful in this live album. Plus it's SOO nice to hear at least a few tunes off of Jamboree, which was never released on CD. The sound quality is a little off, but then again that kind of adds a "you are there" feel to it that many overproduced live albums don't provide. "Cattle Prod" and "Country Club Gun" stand out. They simply rock. I sure hope they decide to get together and do more studio work. And I REALLY hope Elektra decides to reissue all of their old releases. Buy it!!!"
Almost, but not quite there....

"....I remember seeing these guys (and girl) in a previous life in Omaha, Nebraska. This CD is mostly fine, but doesn't capture the energy of their mid-80's shows. Since it appears that these shows were mostly one-off gigs, I suppose they were recorded and released (in limited quantity, it seems) for the sake of nostalgia. But "nostalgia" is a kind word for dead, and these versions are, unfortunately, sometimes less-than-inspired. It's good to hear these tunes once again, but they're best heard in their original (i.e. studio) contexts. Elektra seems to be in no hurry to re-issue their music on disc, so logic tells me that SOMEBODY can pick up the re-issue rights for a song, so to speak."
