CD ReviewsWhy did this recording not go further? Gruvdog | Graniteville, sc United States | 08/18/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Just about the time this CD came out, I was playing drums in The Robby Ducey Band (in fact, I was the original drummer). We played a show in Athens, Ga as the opening act for GD. I had never heard of them. Most of the material they played that night was from the 2 X 4 CD. Man, I was blown away.
Murray Attaway, and Jeff Walls are the guitar and songwriting duo from Hell as the expression goes. These guys write some of the most dense, and wonderful stuff ever recorded, and when they play it sounds like twenty guitars, but is only two. The songs, aside from being new-age, and nihilistic as possible, are beautifully crafted, and performed. It is a testimony to the American public's extreme lack of taste and insight that this band essentially got nowhere, and eventually disbanded (and have since reformed). Americans in general have no opinion except what the radio/video industry spoon-feed them, and then tell them to like (by use of sublimination and other techniques). GD deserved much more attention, respect, success, and notoriety than they got, and this recording is their very best. There is not a bad note on it. If you missed this one, you missed the boat!" |
