Great blend of southern rock & blues with a touch of jazz
06/30/1998
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The band forms when two members (Larry Howard and Ricky Burnett) leave Florida roots and find Dru Lombar(now Doctor Hector & the Groove Injectors) and Joe Dan Petty from the Allman brothers road crew. The four founded Grinderswitch and hailed out of Macon Ga. to produce some of the finest southern rock with blends of blues and jazz licks with some of the best lyrics of love, hurt, happiness and life. "Kiss the Blues Goodbye" was honored on the House of Blues label and "Peach County Jamboree" was recently included on a Charlie Daniels album.Lost in time, these songs will stir the soul."
Great Southern Rock Band

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Being a huge fan of the Allman Brothers Band, I purchased Grinderswitch's first album, "Honest to Goodness", on a whim. I am so glad I took that chance when this album first came out in 1974 and purchased the CD when it first came out in the mid-90's. This band's musical style is very much like that of the Allman Brothers, with a good blend of blues and southern rock. Dru Lombar is an outstanding lead guitarist and does some extremely good solo work throughout these songs. The highlights of the album are "Kiss the Blues Goodbye", "How the West Was Won", "Roll On Gambler", "Catch a Train" and "Homebound". This is one of my favorite albums of all time."
