"This is a very good cd. Coupled with Laid Back and you have the best of Greg's work from that period. It is kind of short for a cd but it was an album full of great music. Not a bad cut on the cd, Come and Go Blues, Cryin' Shame, etc. Enjoy!"

Nice but short collection

"This is Gregg Allman's second studio album. It was released in 1977 while the Allman Brothers Band was in the middle of a 4 year breakup and having major internal problems.



This is a very nice album but there isn't enough on it to give it a five star recommendation.



The best song on the album is Come and Go Blues, but Gregg Allman had already recorded it with the Allman Brothers Band 4 years earlier on Brothers And Sisters.



Matthews Arrival is a funky instrumental, but is repetitive and not that interesting. I normally like instrumentals, especially those from the Allman Brothers. Unfortunately, this track is just inconsequential filler.



Subtracting those two tracks, that leaves only 7 new songs. The CD is only 35 minutes long, and if you ignore those two tracks, that leaves only 26 minutes of new, good songs.



The 7 songs and 26 minutes of music range from good to very good. They are blues, soul and funk oriented. Allman's voice if very good and the back up band is great. The production values are very good.



Really, the only downfall on this CD is that it is so short and the only killer song is already on a much better album. Combine this with Laid Back and you would have a very nice 4 star CD."

"I just about wore this LP out when it first hit the racks but I eventually lost it to a meltdown leaving it in the car...then I realized maybe Amazon.com has it....yes!!! This album still has the magic for me, great blues tunes. Greg is a quality blues singer and in this era has a slightly cleaner edge in his vocal than his more recent stuff, obviously younger but strong and nonetheless outstanding. His keyboard stuff ain't too shabby either. No disappointments, every song awesome and great flow. Peter"
