"Greg Garing's "Alone" is a quirky presentation of country music with a techno edge, perhaps a first in the category of country punk. He mixes sophisticated production and synthesized sounds with traditional picking and steel pedal guitar, plus his own twangy vocals that even contain the occasional country yodel. The result is irresistible if you're not looking for the typical in music but want to hear something with sophistication and good lyrics, too."
If Hanks Williams were alive...

"...he'd be Greg Garing. A hip friend of mine clued me in to Garing recently, so I pulled the 'Alone' album off iTunes based on the 30 second clips they provide. I then saw him last night play in the Lower East Side of Manhattan (at Sin E on Attorney Street) with the upright bass player and the pedal steel guitarist from Hank Williams III band. The guy has a haunting voice, plays any stringed instrument like a virtuoso, and onstage knows no limits -- his vocal range soars to Jimmie Dale Gilmore and dives to Johnny Cash, while he jerks convulsively around the stage like Elvis with Tourette's syndrome. One of the most impressive gigs I've ever seen anywhere. I have no idea how to classify his music -- honky tonk on speed? It's scary that this talent exists unrecognised."
Excellent

"Innovative, twisted melodies, heavy crunching guitar, quirky banjo twangs, driving industrial-esque beats, and more this is one to keep. It's like WaxTrax gone down south. Greg is an excellent musician and this record is the proof. Get your ears on it as soon as you can. With a record this good, I can't believe we've not heard more."
Safe Within My CD Collection

"An odd, intriguing, and beautifully executed mish-mash of styles. I've occasionally heard "My Love Is Real" sung by some woman over the muzak at my local supermarket. This album ought to be cherished by most Alt-country fans for both its pop and traditional sensiblities. "Safe Within Your Arms" is my favorite song on here. I hope he follows it up with another one soon. It was produced, engineered, and mixed by David Kahne (the man who fired Wilco from Reprise) and I wonder how the sound of this album compares to Garing's live arrangements. I'd love find out."
Too bad it was marketed as alternative country...

"Unfortunately this is a case of bad marketing for an incredibly good album. While this album is country/blue grass influenced it is really much more of a pop album, deep lyrics and strange influences...I hope that soon Greg Garing will be recognized as the creative guru he really is.
Buy this album and really take time to experience it.
Its a rare gem."
