"I've managed to acquire several Grandpa Jones albums over the years, and I must say that the sound quality on this album far exceeds that of any other in my collection. I assume these are later recordings, as real classics such as Old Rattler differ significantly from the versions I am familiar with. All I know for sure is that all ten of these tracks sound great and are basically free of any noticeable audio distortions. What makes Good Ole Mountain Dew a favorite of mine is its mix of great songs I already know with several I had not heard before. Grandpa Jones puts a great deal of energy and fun into favorites such as Mountain Dew, Old Rattler, Eight More Miles to Louisville, Night Train to Memphis, T For Texas, and my personal favorite Are You From Dixie? Old Blue is a wonderful tribute to a dog other than good old Rattler. The real magic here, though, is to be found in King of the Canyon County Hills and Banjo Sam. These are two terrific songs that number among Grandpa's best of all time. I know bluegrass songs are generally pretty short, and there are only ten tracks included on this CD, but this is an album every fan of Grandpa Jones or of bluegrass in general should absolutely love."
