The problem here is not the cast or the performance, but the shoddy job of transcribing done for this recording. Besides being poorly remastered, it is running fast, a whole half-step high in pitch which distorts the voices of the principals, making them sound pinched and nasal which they were not. Shame on Gebhardt, which is usually very consistent in their reissues, for miserably botching this recording. Unless you have a variable speed cd player I would suggest you stay away from this one!"
