"Night Shade should be a part of every collection. Gordon Stone's music over the years has taken many turns, working with a slew of artists on different sounds. They all central around Stone's incredible talents and a top name in the funkabilly jamgrass.
A staple of the Burlington, Vermont's incredibly diverse musical scene give us a new album that pays tribute to some of his best pieces, but also gives us something new that we have never heard before.
Once you're hooked on Stone's unique style, you'll find yourself wanting to listen to the rest of his discography. Stone's previous release, Rhymes With Orange, was three men who sounded like six. Whether on the banjo or pedal steel, songs like "Batik" and "Nice Feet" make this record flow from start to finish. Aram Bedrosian's unbelievable work on "Slapioca" highlights the level of talent Stone enjoys playing along side.
If you ever have the opportunity to see Stone perform live, you'll likely walk away hearing favorites like "Pachysandra" and "Sunday Driver" along with improvisational sessions with whomever he's sharing the stage with on a given evening."
