A real treat.

"I stumbled onto this album looking for Carrie Akre's older band Hammerbox. What a revelation! A Seattle band that is straightforward rawk without the angst. Has to be heard loud and often. This album is getting harder to find, so if you can yank up on a copy, do so!"

"Carrie Akre, formerly of the Seattle band, Hammerbox, has formed a band even more impressive than Hammerbox. Don't get me wrong... I loved Hammerbox, but this group seems to have the balance between harder edge guitar and powerful vocals (Carrie is an expert with powerful vocals!) and incredibly clever lyrics. I got this album, having been a fan of Hammerbox... and liking the name "Goodness". I had never heard anything else about the group, but since day one, I have loved this album completely. EVERY SINGLE SONG... The album starts off strong with "Superwise", then goes on to one of my favourites, "Smoking" with its incisive lyrics, "When the glass door opens and I walk inside the room, I'm not sure if I'm ready for what I got myself into. And I can see some of my friends and I wanna cling to them right away. Somebody touches my hand, I know I'm being pulled away. Well, this one here, she was always high school nice to me... and I know she's one of many whose faking it when it comes to being real". (We can all relate to this...) Another particular favourite is track seven "Labor Day"... "You, pacify my heart... cuz I won't be the last one in line, I wanna get a head start. And you, rectify my heart... cuz I won't hang around with someone who will just tear me apart. I was giving it all away... hoping that you'd decide to stay. And now you are getting yourself far away... it's a safer bet that way I know you're not good for me anyway. Here to stay, yes I am... all alone on Labor Day..." And other gems here include "Between You and I" and "Viva le High". Overall a superb effort. You'll love it!"
One of my favorite bands.

"Carrie Akre's powerful and passionate voice teamed up with the wall of sound provided by the rest of the band make this CD one of my favorites. Their music manages to be thoughtful and yet still fun and upbeat. You won't be disappointed if you pick this one up."
The Best Rock To Come Out of Seattle

"How can I even begin? I popped this CD in, started "drumming" with my pen, and before I realized it, ink was everywhere. Carrie Akre has the most powerful voice of any female rocker I've ever heard. The in-your-face grunts, yips, and "oooooooh-yeeeeeaah's" mix with Fiia McGanns beautiful background vocals and the ingenious guitar riffs to form an irresistable rock concoction. This is one that will get worn out in your player quickly. Pick up several copies! Highlights include the melancholy but beautiful "Smoking", the catchy "Goodbye", incredible mix of guitar parts on "Eveready", and the amazing jumping-around-the-room-headbanging-like-a-fool solo at the end of "Sincerely Yours". Get this CD!!!"
