CD ReviewsPassionate and empowering! Eric B. (veloce851@yahoo.com) | Wichita,KS | 10/14/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "I have known Steve since highschool and listened to his sound change and grow....This is by far his best work ever...if you have tons of work to do and need to get it done yesterday, this is the cd to listen to. I can't explain how it transends time and takes me to another world..one where I actually meet deadlines :) And this is only a taste of the talent that lies within him. Now that he has brought the greatest drummer alive (Jesse Reichenberger)back with him. Look out! And look for his latest..."Disarray"" Master musician shane | wichita falls, tx United States | 07/31/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "Gooding is a phenomenal artist, who is the writer, arranger, performer, and engineer on each of his releases. At least the two I personally own. I discovered his CD, which can be difficult to locate, in a coffee house during my travels in Kansas. I noticed on the jacket a young charismatic guitarist an ask the manager, who was more than willing to accommodate, for a sample. He obliged an advised that Gooding had performed at his place two weeks ago. His favorite was Winters Return and thirty seconds into track 1 I purchased both the Gooding disk he had available. The music for me is powerful and thought provoking, contemporry and yet classic. The arrangements of instruments and rhythm are Goodings strenghts. Piano and heavy bassline goove with spanish/classical style guitar, sometimes electric. Each song develops with drama and intensity with a break for reflection. Always progressive with powerful mid tempo percussion, never excessive. The guitar craftsmanship is superb, never excessive or irratating either. The occassional piano adds a beautiful and enchanting dimension to a very progressive work. I listen as I write,.....this album definitely tailors to the adult genre when compared to other works by Gooding. I guess I'm borderlone at thirty. Go for it, you won't regret it, I promise." An audio tour-de-force... syddelish | okc, ok | 03/27/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "this is, in so many words, a masterpiece of musicianship...
gooding's propensity for creating so many moods at once is unequaled... this is, at once, an instrumental blitzkrieg, overpowering then destroying your belief that one person could create this; and then, you succumb to his endless power of music and let him take you wherever he wants to take you... new age without all the 'quasi religious' trappings... guitar god without all the testorone... technical precision without all the eddie van halen wankinesss... it is a soundtrack for your life, and also a soundtrack for what you wish your life could be... you will not want this to end.., and, when it does, i guarantee, you will be hitting play again... over, over, and over again.." |
