Member CD ReviewsRobin V. from RIO RANCHO, NM Reviewed on 3/17/2009... I owned this album in college back in the 70's. Perhaps I did not give it sufficient chance--I only listened to it twice--but I always regarded it as special in that I regarded it as the worst rock album I have ever owned.
I am glad that others regard it more highly. CD ReviewsGreat album, terrible recording Stephen M. H. Braitman | 02/08/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "This great album is a fabulous debut by the eternal Good Rats. Unfortunately, it has got to be the worst produced record on a major label from the '60s. A great tragedy since some of the songs and performances are the best! Don't be discouraged from getting this, however. It's a seminal album, nonetheless." This is Hard Driving Rock at it's BEST !! Stephen M. H. Braitman | 09/07/1998 (5 out of 5 stars) "One of the biggest downfalls a rock band can have is hard driving drums and guitars and not have the vocals to back it up. The Good Rats don't have that problem, the lead singer can really belt it out, and the band is as tight as they come !! This is late 60's/early 70's rock at it's peak !I was 1st introduced to this album in the early 70's in Montana by a sailor friend of mine.I made an 8-track tape of it which I mistakingly gave away with the tape player. When I discovered my error I immediately began a 25 year search for this album, due to losing contact with my sailor friend. But for as many record stores, pawn shops, and flea markets as I looked in, it seemed more and more this album would always elude my collection. When I found it at Amazon.com I felt your service should be called Amazing.com ! Since first hearing this album I've been impressed !!! All of the songs are good. Some of the songs are GREAT !! The great category would include songs: " For The Sake Of Anyone" and "If You Stay By Me". The main songwritter, Peppi Marchello has this band and it's accompanying instrumentals hot, tight and on the mark. It's a MUST HAVE album if you make any claim to having the best American rock from the late 60's to early 70's. This album is so good I am forever amazed this group didn't make a bigger presence on the Rock scene. My 25 yr.search lead me to "Ratcity In Blue" another great Good Rats album. Although not the impact album "The Good Rats" is, it's worth checking out."
