Let Maze create you a Golden Time Of Day

"No wonder Marvin Gaye loved this band. I hope I'm not offending anyone when I say this is Californian silky soul of the highest quality.
Why Californian, you'd say - doesn't he know Frankie Beverly is from Philly?
I know, I know. But the unique sound that is Maze to me is pure California, the sun, the warm breeze, the beautiful girls, the ocean, the waves, the mountains.
The band seamlessly blends jazz and soul into a unique sound that is magic to your ears.
If freedom would have a melody, Maze would be the one.
This is my favorite album - together with their third, Inspiration.
Words cannot express what I feel when I listen to Golden Time Of Day. Take the time and listen to the sample on this site. I'm sure you'll be hooked the moment Frankie's beautiful voice and Wayne Thomas' warm guitar licks let the sunshine in.
Another example of Maze' incredible musical talent: I Need You. What a marvelous ballad, the change in pace, the guitar solos, the chorus - I'm blown away every time I listen to it. Even after 30 years!
This re-master is worth it. The sound is clearer than before. Especially the percussion and drums sound more precise. It also has the original back cover with the band on a snowy mountain top and a few interesting notes by soul music guru David Nathan.
More than Can't Stop The Love or Joy and Pain, this album is heavy on ballads and mid tempo songs. Take my advice and don't go for Best Of compilations. You'll be missing out on quite a few gems. Start with this one - then get them all."
