"Or am I hearing something that isn't there? Because I have never had a CD this short move me so much. I loved Mineral and this is the only Gloria Record release that I feel surpassed anything Chris did in Mineral. These songs are just bursting with emotion and melody. I hear this CD and all I can feel is the cool breeze that fall brings. There are red and orange leaves swirling around inside my head every time I play this record, every time I hear these songs I am lifted up. This ranks up there with The Appleseed Cast and Elliott and Bob Dylan and some other amazing artists that just move me in a way that music was meant to.
I know that's melodramatic and weird, but seriously, the drums just keep the songs moving, creating a foundation that allows the guitars and Chris's vocals to just swirl and float to whatever heights they can. Mineral had some powerful stuff, especially on EndSerenading - that's what this reminds me of. There just seems to be a hint of hope here that wasn't there in Mineral. Hope is the only word I can think of to describe it, there's just a more uplifting and hopeful sound to this than Mineral, or to any of the other Gloria Record stuff.
This one is magic."

"so chris simpson's vocals are kind of overwrought, it's an acquired taste - you get used to it. and so his lyrics are occasionally inane, but this ep efficiently showcases the band's effortless knack for infectious, ornate melodic emo-beauty. songs that swoon within starry-eyed duelling guitars, keyboard harmonies, and cascading drum-work; from a production standpoint, it's nothing to balk at, their sound is perfectly realized."
Personally, i love it

"i discovered this band when i heard that chris and jeremy from mineral (a band i really admire) were members. after checking out "lull in traffic" and "tired and uninspired" i decided to get this EP. in my personal opinion i think it's an excellent collection of songs. the only fault i found is that it is far too short.having read some other comments on here about the band being lacklustre live, and it bringing down their opinion of the band, i am a little wary about seeing them play. however living in england i never have, and that may be why i enjoy this band so much. yes, they sound like radiohead, but that isn't a bad thing. basically, give them a listen. if you like bands like radiohead, sunny day real estate and, indeed, mineral, then you will no doubt enjoy this cd. make up your own mind :o)"

"The Gloria Records' second EP seems a lot more upbeat after the first listen. But after a few more, it becomes clear that the EMO style is still there. The production is spot on, and the songs are about as well written as a song can get. I only wish they didn't sound so much like Canadian alterna-rockers "Our Lady Peace". oh well... i'll take the pepsi challenge with these two anyday. A lull in Traffic is a must buy."
