Synopsis

Product Description
Co-produced with Bob Harris, Joyful Sign features the band's folk/pop/bluegrass sound but with a sense of confidence, energy and spirit that the trio has become known for live. The album is a showcase for memorable, well-crafted songs, graced by the group's signature three-part harmonies. And after six years of living, playing and touring together, the chemistry between Doris, Ty, and Nate has never been more evident. The members of Girlyman, all classically trained, trade off songwriting duties and a slew of instruments including acoustic guitar, banjo, baritone guitar, djembe and mandolin. "We're also big harmony geeks," adds Greenstein. "Our arrangements definitely reflect that."

Beautiful music. Girlyman's harmony-driven style veers from urban folk to country to rock to calypso doo-wop, as the songwriters effortlessly switch off lead vocals."

CD Reviews

Not my favorite from Girlyman, but a good album

"My introduction to Girlyman came with their outstanding album Little Star, which I still consider one of my favorite albums of the past five years or so. By comparison I was a little disappointed with Joyful Sign. The rich, shimmering harmonies are still here in spades, but I find the music to somehow lack the energy and momentum that charged most of Little Star. This is still a good album however and will probably be well received by fans."
Joyful Sign is an awesome album

"I already owned this CD, and every other CD by Girlyman, so there was no risk in this purchase. I bought it as a gift for friends of ours.

In the past, I purchased Girlyman CDs directly from their site, to support the artists. This time, the Amazon price was significantly more attractive, and with free shipping (I bought other stuff at the same time), I decided to buy it here.

Everything that Girlyman does is fantastic, but if I could only have one of their CDs, I would choose this one, Joyful Sign (their latest).
