CD ReviewsA big SHAME that they got dropped! Lots of talent! Weather Warden | Auckland, NZ | 12/28/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Girl Thing's singles "Last One Standing", "Girls On Top" and "Young, Free & Happy" show their immense talent. But when you get to the debut album "Girl Thing", you get blown away... well I was! This album is BRILLIANT. I got it at the end of 2000, and still listen to it regularly, even though the girls split up in 2001. There is lots of talent on this album and loads of great songs that went to waste. Stand out tracks are:3. Young Free & Happy - The girls' third and unfortunately last single. It's a midtempo treat with a catchy chorus and you can tell the distinct voices of each girl. 6. Sometimes You Hit Sometimes You Miss - Another cool midtempo song with great music, much like one of Britney Spears' songs. This has a cool chorus and a brill middle 8. 8. Don't Look Down - A very upbeat, dancy track. It has cool verses and a funny middle 8. 12. Shhh - A girl power song with great vocals from Anika in the second verse. This song disses a guy who thinks he's all that. 13. If That's What It Takes - The best song on the album. This is groovy, funky and sexy with a naughty rap in the middle and a chorus that will stick in your head. 14. You Can Run But You Can't Hide - Another sexy song with a cool rap in the middle. I love the chorus and the bridges. This CD has so many good songs (those above are only the brilliant tracks, all the others are great too) but were wasted when Chris Herbert dropped Girl Thing from BMG Records in February of 2001. I hope he's realised his mistake. An excellent CD!!! Long live the memory of Girl Thing..." Its a "Girl Thing" with the right swing! Renee | Australia | 12/10/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "The November release of Girl Thing's debut album has gone relatively unnoticed with new albums from the likes of Westlife and the Backstreet Boys, yet this cd competes with the best of them. From the debut single 'Last One Standing' which combined upbeat 'Britney' sounding pop to a'la 5ive soft rap, 'Girl Thing' takes this sound one step further. The 70's disco sound of 'Girls On Top' (ooh ooh) to sultry sounds of 'Shhh' and creative lyrics showcased in 'Sometimes You Hit, Sometimes You Miss', Girl Thing are proving to be a pop force to be reckoned with!"
