"This may well be the best album ever released. It includes some of the finest moments of Giant Sand and is a standing proof of Mr. Howe Gelbs genious. It may not be the most Easy on the ear album from Giant Sand, but it holds some of the most powerfull songs ever penned by Howie. This albums has it all. Timeless classics like Searchlight, Paved Road To Berlin, and the wonderfull Sandman. Lots of small sonic electrified "jigsaw like" snippets and some wondefull countryfied songs like Loving Cup, Sucker in The Cage and Picture Show. I think Long Stem Rant marked a bit of a turning point for Giant Sand. Whereas the albums before Long Stem Rant were a little more straight foreward ROCK albums, Long Stem Rant showed a much more experimental and searching Howe Gelb."
