Product DescriptionItalian composer Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988) was one of the most interesting composers of the Avant Garde. Experimenting with sounds and timbres, he sometimes composed pieces based around only one pitch, subjecting it to extreme dynamic and timbre changes and micro-oscillations. This recording presents all of Scelsis works in which flute is the featured instrument. The flute brilliantly displays the compositional intentions of Scelsi, with its ethereal tone and capabilities for infinite pitch gradiations. Claudia Giottoli is the featured flutist on this album. One of the leading flutists in Italy, she has won several competitions, and specializes in contemporary repertoire and pieces with extended techniques. Raffaele DAniello, Paulo Puliti, Leonardo Ramadori, and Natalia Benedetti accompany her on piano, oboe, percussion, and clarinet, respectively.
