"I owned this recording, and three additional ones, in the 1970s and played them until I had memorized every song. Unfortunately, I no longer have the recording, and would appreciate help in obtaining a CD of all of these songs.Erich Kunz captures with spirit that wonderful spirit of a past era without a hint of what one would call "Nazi songs". The songs on this album have essentially disappeared from the repertoire of young people, students and the populace. Here they are superbly presented for posterity."

"I share my fellow critic's views and enthusiasm from Norwalk, CT. But he gives the impressesion that all on this CD is jolly. Two or three of the loveliest melodies in all western songdom (songhood?) are on this wonderful CD: "Annchen von Tharau," "Der Lindenbaum," and "Die Lorelei", nicht wahr? Defintiely Vol. 1 has an edge, but this Vol. 2 is terrific...and yes, you out there in Connecticut, Vol. 3 is now available. Lebt wohl!"
Drinking, dueling, carousing, wenching and ("ja!") marching

"Achtung! March right out and buy German University Songs Vol. 1 and 2! Then beg Vanguard records to release Vol. 3! These are all the favorite tunes that the Red Baron and his Flying Circus kameraden must have sung together late nights in the Jagdstaffel. Erich Kunz and the Vienna State Opera Men's chorus give all these hits their full measure of boot stomping, saber rattling, stein-clinking gusto. The songs all celebrate the politically-incorrect but macho fun of drinking, dueling, riding, hunting, carousing, wenching, hiking and marching. Forget about the Biergarten, Ooompa Bands and go for the real glory of these obscure, but deeply satisfying Kultural treasures."
