CD Reviews

Fabulous!

"I saw Geraint Watkins play with Nick Lowe and made a special point to write down his name after Nick let him play a couple of his (Geraint's) own songs - his performance was memorable. I'm so glad I did - what a great record, just irresistible! The songs are warm, sweet, funny and catchy, paired with fine musicianship from all. Don't Stop is my personal favorite, I can't possibly tire of this record no matter how many times I listen. How refreshing to hear a recording from someone so clearly enjoying what they do and doing it with such heart. It sounds corny but it's the truth."
No wobbling from Watkins with "Bold as Blue"

"Top British Keyboard player Watkins has finally released a follow up to his well previous album with the Dominators. After years of playing on other peoples records (notably Edmunds and/or Lowe) and subsequently with Van Morrison and Paul McCartney, Geraint shows what he himself can do.No Alligator/Cajun stuff just excellant songs, very well played by himself and a few chosen friends (including Nick Lowe on Bass). Mostly crooning, rolling Fats Domino like songs, they are a joy to listen to and appreciate, as is his piano playing (but then again he is somewhat special on either piano or accordian). Particular favourites of mine are "It's a wonderful life", "Don't Stop" and "Big Bad Dog" but there isn't a bad track on the CD.You never know, he might return to do "Another Avergae Night in Wingrave". Now that would be special."
Fun and first-rate recording

"I thoroughly enjoy this CD after numerous listenings--the song lyrics are clever and the tunes catchy. Watkins's personality and musicianship shine throughout; his musical twist on the daily rudeness (or joy) of life (or love) keeps this recording in my CD mix."
