"I loved listening to Georges Brassens 40 years ago but had forgotten just how glorious his French singing is. Every word is clear, and he rolls his r's so thoroughly you'd think he had a mouth full of water. This is a nice collection of his sweet songs."

"BRASSENS continue where he left us with his second lp.His réputation rapidly grows in FRANCE with songs like BANC PUBLIC and PUTAIN DE TOI displaying his original style with subversive lyrics accompagnied only by another guitar and a bass. The list of later FRENCH folksingers who were influenced by these recordings is endless.BRASSENS when he started was really a sensation. It is worth mentionning that all the songs of the first two lps were written before his official debut in 1952.Like LE GORILLE from the previous lp,PUTAIN DE TOI wasn't allowed radio playing at all. We've come a long way since then.Bonus tracks are unnecessary, apart from a second hilarious live version of PUTAIN DE TOI,in which BRASSENS is clearly enjoying himself."
