Synopsis

Amazon.com essential recording
George Michael's second post-Wham! outing, Listen Without Prejudice could not have been more appropriately titled. Following on the booty-shakin' heels of Faith, Listen found Michael being more serious than sassy. "Freedom 90" had a strong groove, a catchy melody, and of course, the sex-bomb video. The contemplative tone of the album is best illustrated by the other hit that it spawned, "Praying for Time." Michael's voice was as strong as ever, and he did indeed take several risks on the CD. "They Won't Go When I Go," (not a Michael composition) was almost cryptic, and "Cowboys and Angels" was a lament of a different kind. --Steve Gdula

CD Reviews

LWP vol 1

"This is one of George Michaels best albums. It was not as commercial as Faith was. The songs on this album have a lot of deep and personal meaning to them. This is not the first time I have purchased this album. After seeing George Michael in concert last year it has reminded me what a great and talented singer song writer he truely is."
Depressing and GORGEOUS (the music, not just the man)

"While "Faith" seemed to be a bit of a segue out of the candy-pop WHAM! days, this second solo album is more George: older, wiser, more in control of the music on his albums and always so honest and willing to talk about unpopular subjects. There are shades of "Faith" in the sound but this is much more serious, haunting, and yes, depressing. It's like nothing I'd ever heard or will hear again. This is truly one of my favorite albums of all time and even people I knew who didn't like George Michael did like this album. There is no denying true quality."

"I loved this in college, and don't know what ever happened to my original copy. Had to replace it - since I have been feeling nostalgic lately. It is as good as you remember it being... Don't let George's antics later in life scare you away! "
