Lively colourful and rewarding

"Very British music, but without the rather cloying textures that seem to prevail among some English composers. Lloyd's symphonies here are fresh, vibrant, colourful and tuneful; from the often jaunty melodies of the 1st movement of symphony no 2 and the last movement of the ninth symphony, to the majestic march-like 3rd movement of the second symphony and the expansive slow movements. Lively performances by the BBC Philharmonic under the direction of the composer combined with superbly rich sound quality complete a most rewarding listening experience."
