Album DescriptionThis music could be called Pop Flamenco, Nouveau Flamenco or just plain Flamenco Fusion. It reflects George's multi cultural background and the variety of his musical experiences. The acoustic, nylon string guitar is always prominent and provides both the smooth, romantic textures and the passionate, driving energy in this album. George uses flamenco techniques such as picados and rasquedos to provide the flamenco style, but uses pop and Latin rhythms as the vehicle to carry his message. His melodies embrace and convey these rhythms and are, at once, flamenco, Latin and pop. Backing up his exquisite guitar is an ensemble of musical instruments including a tight rhythm section of bass, drums, percussion and piano. It's unusual for a virtuoso instrumentalist to also sing, but George joins those few artists like George Benson and Eric Clapton who have mastered the guitar and can deliver strong compelling vocal as well. In essence, these artists have been blessed with two instruments with which to speak and weave their magic. Beginnings and Ojos Negros are original flamenco-styled, pop guitar solos with soothing, medium tempo rhythms. De Par en Par is a more up tempo flamenco/Latin song where George sings (in Spanish) with a little salsa flavor. In Kudos, George's beautiful flamenco guitar dialogues back and forth with his vocals (in English) which give us an inspiring message of hope and encouragement. The mood changes in Rosas Romanticas, a classical and flamenco type guitar solo, as we slow down to a mellow and romantic pace. Cruising is closer to smooth jazz than the other compositions. The strolling, relaxing quality of the piece gives it it's name as we wander through a comfortable journey of flamenco/pop textures. Mirame, Tocame, Besame (Spanish) show us George's fine voice as he woos us in this sexy, romantic Latin ballad. Rescatando Tu Amor (Spanish) is another romantic song with a poignant lyric about rescuing a jilted lover. Lightning Strikes Again is the title track. It starts off in a slow haunting guitar solo, very flamencoish, and ends in an up tempo song (English) describing inspiration and emotional breakthroughs.
