More Than A Greek Treasure
07/04/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When you try to classify Dalaras as a Greek Voice or a Greek Spirit or a Greek Treasure, you miss the most important thing. The man can sing like no one else. If you know the language, you can appreciate the poetry, and if you dont, you cant help but marvel at the voice. Like others from around the world, like Mercedes Sosa for example, if George Dalaras sang in English, he'd have been deified by now. On this recording, the band is as tight as can be, whether it is bouzoukee or saxaphone. The arrangements flow like water; and Dalaras takes you by the hand with a voice, and a delivery that you just wont find anywhere else.A wonderful collection."
Terrific!!

"I've had this CD over a year now and it's been a favorite of my family. Along with Haris Alexiou, George Dalaras really conveys the spirit of what is so wonderful about Greek music. So get this CD, and site down with a glass of wine (or ouzo, if you're adventurous) and let the music take you away!"

"His music combines sadness, peace, hope and melancholy. You can feel the typical spirit of Greece in his voice. A wonderful example of the true Levantin music (rembetico)."
