"Georgie Auld is a very underated tenor man. From his Big Band recordings during the Swing Era to his small group recordings in the 50's and his work as a studio musician, Auld is right up there with the Big 3: Hawkins, Prez, and Webster. This CD focuses on the recordings of Auld during WWII leading various outfits of his own. It is a true "find" to hear this cat Swinging while fronting his own groups. If you have all the Goodman, Shaw, Ellington etc. from the 30's and 40's this is a wonderful embelishment and addition to your Swing collection."
