"As the first snow flakes fell this winter, I started dreaming of a summer vacation. If you need a break from the dreariness of winter, let the sounds of a lazy guitar drift over your mind. You will find the music of Gene Nery to be a refreshing break in the middle of the winter. As you are dreaming of your favorite beach getaway, you might even find yourself in a rather happy mood and catch yourself singing along with a few familiar favorites.
You will instantly recognize Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way." and Jerome K. Harbach's "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." Music by Stevie Wonder and Van Morrison also makes its appearance.
Gene Nery's music evokes a feeling of summer love and a carefree spirit. There is also a definite Hawaiian influence which brings images of sandy beaches and the smell of the salty air and flowers to mind. If you want to escape from winter in your mind, I recommend this highly. It is very laid back and you might find yourself thinking you need to buy a hammock to go with this CD.
"A Summer Place" was a produced by Gene Nery and recorded at The Hideout on Orcas Island, WA. It was mastered by Ross Nyberg at Disc Master in Issaquah, WA and Designed by TMA Ted Mader Associates in Seattle, WA. I was pleased to find a CD created right here in Washington.
Perhaps Gene Nery was able to capture the last little bits of a Washington Summer and give us this gift for a dreary winter day when our thoughts drift back to summer.
