Really poor recording

"I love Gene Autry. I have many of his CDs. This one is by far the worst recording I have heard of his material (or anyone else's for that matter). It appears that someone took his old recordings and added new arrangements with drums, electric base, and vocal back ups circa the early-seventies(?). Sometimes the overdubs are so overpowering that Autry's voice gets lost in the background.
This disc is a travesty folks. Avoid it and get the real thing. The 3-CD set from Ryko is a real gem."

"part of a quest to collect as many of the singing cowboys tremendous output of original studio recordings released on Columbia 45 RPM singles as possible.many of them seem to be hard to come by in favor of the Melody Ranch radio show versions.I was surprised to find that much of what was on this collection sounded like alternate live recordings made some time later.
this has a lot of his more obscure titles that I was seeking such as "let me cry on your shoulder""Blue Canadian Rockies""I was just walking out the door""cowboys Trademarks""Youre the only good thing""a voice in the choir"&"a new star is shining in heaven"."

"This album by Gene Autry is a fine example of the talent and versital entertainer He was. Some of these songs are from live performances when He was in concert. It also showed the different style of music that He progressed through the years that He performed. This is a definite recommendation from one Gene Autry Fan to other Fans. If Gene Autry sang a song it had to be good. He was the Greatest!"
