"Gary Young is the ex-drummer of the California punk band Pavement. Ex because Gary was more mature than the rest of the band who averaged twenty years younger than him, or ex because he got drunk out of his mind at shows and regularly passed out in the middle of them? If you know anything about Gary Young, you'll know the answer is definitely the latter. Is Gary Young out of control? Yes. Is he a bit off his rocker? Yes. Does he have an odd affinity with plants? Yes. Does he make good music? Absolutely. I first heard Gary Young on an episode of Beavis and Butthead where they were making fun of his Plant Man video. Granted, the song was ridiculous, but at the same time infectious in its playful progression through the same 4 chords and its repetitious chromatic drum solos. I liked Gary Young from the start, but it was a long time before I got a hold of his album, but when I did I was not disappointed. Certainly, Gary Young is not the greatest musician out there technically speaking, he's probably not even one of the better ones, but the music he makes drips with an honesty and originality that can only make one have a fond place in their hearts for this scruffy drummer turned one-time soloist. I recommend this CD to everyone. If you like it then you'll understand what draws me to his music, and If you hate it, listen to it more because it will without a doubt expand your musical horizons"
