"Until I first heard excerpts played by Jonathan Schwartz, I thought the Basie Band was the finest band ever. However Gary Urwin's group are unexcelled by anyone. They are as "tight" as is possible to be. The instrumental voicings are brilliant, as well as the tempo changes and harmonies. The drummer cutting with the brass,as well as his expertise as a player make these charts exciting. Have been a player (trumpet) at one time I enjoy playing these tracks over and over."

Better than "Perspectives".

""Perspectives" was good, but "Living In the Moment" surpasses it in my humble opinion. The opener, "East of the Sun" just blows me away and I find it hard to get the arrangement out of my mind. Next is "Slow Boat to China", the tune I first heard on a jazz station and the one that convinced me to buy the cd. After that would be "Lush Life" and then "Round Midnight". As you can probably tell, I like familiar songs. This group has an extremely clean sound for the size of the orchestra and the arrangements are excellent. I feel any true jazz fan would be happy to have this disc in his or her collection. I know I am. You won't be disappointed with the Gary Urwin Jazz Orchestra. It's a blast!"
