"Gary Meek has played with Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, that agless Brazilian husband & wife team, for more than a decade now. This, I believe, is his first disc as leader. And quite a disc it is. Meek displays an orignal voice and concept on each of the four instruments he plays (soprano, alto, and tenor sax, and flute), with his soprano sound, strikingly rich for this difficult ax, impressing mightly. With four out of nine cuts being Meek originals, he also shows himself to be a fine composer. Perhaps a little too popish--although never slipping into jazz lite--for purists, anyone who digs beautiful melodies played with gusto and sophistication, plus plenty of well-crafted improvization by, esp., Meek, will want to add this to their collection."
