This is not a throw back. This is not someone singing about nature in its simplest form. A world between Tropic Of Cancer, and In An Aeroplane Over The Sea. Garrett has spent recent years in Echo Park, Davis, and now San Francisco. The music itself is comfortable and well executed by the help of bay area musicians Matt Bauer, Jolie Holland, Safa Shokrai (The Drift) Jake Mann (Zim-Zims), and mixed by Nigel Pavao (Last Of The Blacksmiths). The songs were recorded over six months in five separate locations from studios to closets, with emphasis on subtlety and distance. The album is equally painful as it is beautiful, and his voice is a compliment to any lazy morning or wine-soaked evening.
